Cause

I guess I was surprised to see the doctor listed three causes of death. And then perplexed that the first cause was ‘shock’. Surely cause and effect had been transposed. Despite the medical accuracy of the term, the piercing nature of the word was curious to see associated with a man who seemed throughout his life to be shocked by nothing.
